The imprints of baroque festival culture can be accessed in several ways. First of all each digitized title is catalogued as an "electronic edition" in the local OPAC or in the union catalogue (GBV). Thus all normal search facilities of the union catalogue or OPAC, such as person, keyword, or subject-heading searches, are available for these electonic imprints as well. The titles can also be accessed through a shelf-mark list and VD 17, if the materials are from the 17th century.

Besides accessing the digital editions, it is possible to search at page level by means of a specific database. These the user may search for specific elements contained in the imprints, such as persons or topics named in the text or keywords for illustrations, and find the titles belonging to them.

In addition, by presenting an inventory of digitized books on the web, each item will also be found by search engines such as Google. This rather haphazard access, however, is not very reliable and cannot be recommended.

XML-Metadata are presented on the web in dynamically creating HTML pages. The stylesheet used can be changed at any time. The metadata are added to the digital image allowing to browse through the document structure of the imprint. They provide the document structure, consiting of headings, table of contents, intertexts such as preface, dedications, etc. (cf. encoding of XML documents) as well as subject related information such as keywords, iconclass notations or thesaurus terms. Links takes you to the corresponding page of the digital facsimile edition. Other links are provided to obtain the full bibliographic description from the library catalogue or information about quoting or other projects.
