Dauer Memorial Foundation

In 1997 Elfriede Abbe (Vermont) initiated a foundation in memory of Frieda Dauer-Abbe and Conrad Abbe, her mother and her grandfather. Frieda Dauer-Abbe (1878-1957) was a pianist and her father Conrad Dauer (1850-1939) was regional supervisor of buildings in Wolfenbüttel. The purpose of the foundation is to finance memorial concerts at the Herzog August Bibliothek, playing music written before 1900.

Each year a concert given either by a single artist or by a duo takes place in the library's main hall.
