Van Runset Foundation
In 2006 Dr. Ute van Runset (Düsseldorf), a scholar in French studies who for many years has been a member of the German Society for Eighteenth Century Studies, set up a foundation for the benefit of the HAB. The purpose of the foundation is the promotion of Enlightenment studies at the library, especially the French Enlightenment. This includes the acquisition of rare books from the 18th century and the relevant secondary literature. The foundation is also empowered to take other measures that would help fulifil its charter.
Over the past years the foundation has purchased a number of imprints from the 18th century to augment library holdings.
Current members of the Board: Dr. Gabriele Ball (Wolfenbüttel); Dr. Gillian Bepler (Wolfenbüttel); Manfred Flotho (Wolfenbüttel); Stefan Riecher (Braunschweig); Professor Dr. Helwig Schmidt-Glintzer (Wolfenbüttel).
