Travelling and accommodation
Information on the layout of the town can be found on the city map Wolfenbüttel, the immediate surroundings of the library on the town centre plan. The library buildings are shown on the site map, and access for the disabled is described here.
From the North, West and East you will approach Wolfenbüttel on the A2 Autobahn (Berlin-Hannover). Take the Exit Braunschweig-Nord (direction Salzgitter/Kassel). Follow the signs to Kassel along the ring road (A391, A39, A395), exiting at Braunschweig-Süd in the direction of Bad Harzburg and following the signs to Wolfenbüttel-Nord.
From the South you will approach Wolfenbüttel on the A7 Kassel-Hannover Autobahn. Exit at Salzgitter Dreieck (A39) following the signs to Braunschweig and Berlin, exiting the Autobahn at Salzgitter-Watenstedt in the direction of Wolfenbüttel.
By Air and Rail
The nearest city is Braunschweig, the nearest airport is in Hannover. If you fly directly to Hannover, take the suburban railway S5 link directly from Hannover Airport to Hannover City Centre Train Station. The train leaves about every 30 minutes from Terminal C. Details. There are regular hourly train services from Hannover to Braunschweig, either by Intercity (IC) or Intercity Express (ICE), in the direction of Berlin or Dresden. When travelling via Berlin, take a link from the airport to Berlin Hauptbahnhof railway station. There is a regular train service from Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Braunschweig. If you land at Frankfurt airport, take the train or subway to Frankfurt main station (Hauptbahnhof) and take a train to Braunschweig. Train timetables.
From Braunschweig Station to Wolfenbüttel
1. By train: Regional trains in the direction of Bad Harzburg, Goslar, Kreisensen or Helmstedt travel at half-hourly intervals from Braunschweig to Wolfenbüttel. The journey takes about 10 minutes. Walking from Wolfenbüttel Station to the Library takes 10 minutes. When you come out of the main station door, walk over the small bridge directly in front of you, turning left when you come to road and then straight on towards the Castle Square and the Lessingplatz. 2. By bus: Bus service 420 departs every 20-30 minutes from Braunschweig Station to Wolfenbüttel. The journey takes about 25 minutes. Leave the bus at the stop "Lange Straße". It will take 10 minutes to reach the library via the "Kornmarkt" and the Market Place (Map of town centre).
3. By taxi: The taxi stand is located in front of the station in Braunschweig. The journey to Wolfenbüttel costs about 20 Euro.
