Webcam Service

The Wolfenbüttel Webcam Service allows people from all over the world to have a look at single pages (e.g. titlepages, pages showing illustrations or textual variants ) from manuscripts or old prints via webcam . This way research questions concerning our holdings can be answered as quickly, easily and specifically as possible. It is not designed for paging through complete books. Artist’s books and some parts of our special collections are excluded from this service. Please note that some materials might be excluded for conservation reasons.

To use the Webcam Service please contact the reference desk and make an appointment: Tel. +49(0)5331/808-312, email: Please consult our catalogues first and note the shelfmarks and titles of the books you would like to see. You will be given an appointment. On the date stipulated please open the website showing the webcam signal and call +49(0)5331/808-118. A librarian will be there to open and display the pages you have requested and answer further questions on the book. If you miss the appointment by more than 15 minutes it will have expired. If you still wish to see the book, please contact the reference again to arrange a new appointment.

If you would like to save images of the pages on your computer, you can use the “save image as“ function in your browser (e.g. by clicking onto the image with the right mouse button). Please be aware of our terms of use. If you have further questions concerning the Wolfenbüttel Webcam Service, please contact the reference librarian.
