The Herzog August Bibliothek supports research and conducts its own research projects. The Library awards fellowships and offers various programmes to promote young scholars.

Conferences and symposia facilitate the exchange of ideas between scholars.

Independent or co-operative research or cataloguing projects enable the Herzog August Library to participate in the development and methodological innovation of critical reflection on cultural studies and research in the humanities.

The reserach activities at the Herzog August Library are in several areas supported by Scientific Advisory Boards (Arbeitskreise); they are also partners in organizing conferences and publishing journals.
