Leibnizressourcen digital - Digitization of scientific, technical and medical literature read by Leibniz

The scientific, technical, and medical writings characterize the foundation of moderne scientific thought and research of the end of the seventeenth and the beginning of the eighteenth century. One of the most interesting set of titles is that read and studied by Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz - a universal scholar and, in one of his many functions, also librarian of the ducal library at Wolfenbuettel for 25 years (1691-1716).

The edition of Leibniz' scientific, technical and medical writings was started in 2001 (editor Prof. Dr. Eberhard Knobloch) and will constitute series no. VIII of the official edition of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences. The new series will not only produce an online edition of Leibniz manuscripts but also give online access to literature referred to by Leibniz. There are links to single pages, specific chapters, and whole works. In an initial phase, and parallel to the Leibniz edition, the project has digitized major works which were of direct importance for Leibniz himself. All works are digitized in their entirety and linked to the online Leibniz edition. The digitized works also form part of the "Wolfenbüttel Digital Library" and are accessible there too. This makes an important corpus of early modern texts and illustrations (included in most volumes) relevant to the understanding of the scientific culture of the Leibniz period available to a world-wide audience.
