My project aims to provide a new edition of the ars grammatica attributed to Clemens Scotus (9th century). This grammatical treatise explores the eight parts of speech and is preceded by a section dealing with philosophy and its components. In my thesis, I will also focus on didactic aspects of teaching and learning Latin in the Carolingian era.

During my stay in Wolfenbüttel, I will conduct archival research on the Augustan manuscript collection, having discovered that a new witness of the ars, unknown until last year, is held in the library here. I will research the provenance of this manuscript and other codices that arrived with it. This research will enable me to shed light on the manuscript tradition of the ars grammatica and its path through the centuries.
