Between 2029 and 2021 the two libraries will digitise a total of almost 600 medieval manuscripts (more than 200,000 images) in high resolution (600 dpi). Manuscripts from Würzburg (the cathedral church and other religious houses) and the Eberbach Cistercian abbey will be digitised in Oxford, while the HAB will digitise around 200 manuscripts from five monasteries in Lower Saxony (around 100,000 images): the Clus Benedictine abbey near Gandersheim, the Augustinian canons of Sülte near Hildesheim, the Collegiate Church of St Blaise in Brunswick, the Marienberg Augustinian nunnery near Helmstedt and the Medingen Cistercian nunnery near Bad Bevensen.

The project will also include a pilot project to test the introduction of IIIF technology at the HAB.

The digitised manuscripts will be presented in a ‘project’ portal and in the manuscripts database.
