In the MASTER project the Herzog August Bibliothek collaborated with the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Bavarian State Library, BSB) in Munich to develop an interface format for describing medieval manuscripts. Based on the TEI (P5) international standards, it follows the Richtlinien Handschriftenkatalogisierung (Guidelines for Cataloguing Manuscripts; Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft / German Research Foundation, DFG, 1992). The project was designed to support the cataloguing process in accordance with these guidelines and has made it possible to convert XML data into HTML, to prepare documents for printing and to convert them into the correct format for the manuscript database Manuscripta Mediaevalia.

In the Europeana Regia project, the HAB was likewise responsible for developing interfaces for entering the data with manuscript descriptions into the Europeana digital library.

All the materials created in these projects will be updated on an ongoing basis to reflect advancements in the TEI and to suit current requirements.

Further information on the project and links to all key resources can be found online.
