In order to strengthen the cooperation that they had already been practising for several years, the three institutions joined forces in 2013 to set up the Marbach-Weimar-Wolfenbüttel Research Association (MWW) with the support of the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (Federal Ministry of Education and Research, BMBF). This association provides an organisational framework for carrying out research projects, expanding digital research infrastructures, developing a common scholarship programme and enhancing international exchange.
