The reference library in the Zeughaus comprises approximately 1,000,000 items, including reference works, lexicons and handbooks. Students at lower- and upper-secondary levels are offered two-hour training sessions introducing them to electronic library catalogues and databases, and groups of students are given help in doing research for presentations and their Facharbeit (research paper). The reference library in the Zeughaus and workstations with online access are also available for research purposes.
Training sessions are also offered to teachers of the course ‘Seminarfach’ and those in other disciplines, so that they can inform themselves about using the online catalogues and conducting research and learn about the holdings on specific topics. This two-hour course can be combined with an introduction to media resources at the HAB, in preparation for the examinations in elective Abitur modules for German.
Introductory sessions for using the library are scheduled individually by agreement.

Zu Besuch bei Lessing
Eine Führung als „Besuch bei Lessing“ durch die musealen Räume der Bibliothek und durch das Lessinghaus kann auch unabhängig von einem Schüler*innenseminar gebucht werden. Bei Bedarf und Interesse können Vorführungen von themenbezogenen Filmen und/oder die Bearbeitung von Arbeitsblättern den Besuch vertiefen. Eine Erlebnisführung durch das Museum im Schloss mit einem Schauspieler in der Rolle eines höfischen Tanzmeisters kann den „Besuch bei Lessing“ ergänzen. Auch der „Besuch bei Lessing“ außerhalb der Seminare ist über die Kontaktadressen des Schüler*innenseminars zu buchen.
