The collections contains an additional 20,000 prints, known as the ‘reserve’: of these some 15,000 prints have yet to be indexed, catalogued and described, meaning they could not be included in the collaborative project ‘Virtuelles Kupferstichkabinett’ (Virtual Print Room). As these prints represent a valuable body of source material for researchers, the project also set out to create an in-depth catalogue and digitise around 6,000 of these artistically sophisticated and historically interesting prints with the aim of enhancing the profile of the Virtuelles Kupferstichkabinett.
