The international online bibliography was produced in cooperation with a network of coordinating editors from numerous countries. The Spinoza Gesellschaft (Spinoza Society) took on the management of the content and overall responsibility.
The Spinoza bibliography was developed and edited by Prof. Manfred Walter and then transferred to the Herzog August Bibliothek (HAB) in 2014. It was set up with the support of the Niedersächsisches Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kultur (Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture, MWK). Work on the online bibliography is ongoing at the HAB, and the results have been made available as part of the Wolfenbütteler Digitale Bibliothek (Wolfenbüttel Digital Library, WDB) under an Open Data Commons Open Database Licence (ODbL).
The database builds on the significant preliminary work undertaken by frommann-holzboog Verlag and Stefan Albertz at communication design company golden section. Without extensive support from the publishing company and permission from the publisher, the continuation of this open-access project would not have been possible.
