New York–based artist Marshall Weber conducted a four-week workshop in Wolfenbüttel in which he and workshop participants from the surrounding region collaborated to produce artist’s books. Inspired by the Herzog August Bibliothek’s collection, the works also examine aspects of social, personal and societal life. Two of the new works made by Weber in Wolfenbüttel were also shown in the exhibition.
For the awards ceremony in September 2019 the HAB presented The Wolfenbüttel People’s Library together with the two new artist’s books Weber had created in Wolfenbüttel. The works donated to the HAB could once again be viewed in this exhibition. The Curt Mast Jägermeister Foundation purchased Weber’s artist’s books My Wife and Broken Star and made them available to the HAB in the form of permanent loans.
Marshall Weber is co-founder of the Booklyn group. For many years he has focused on reaching out to a broader cross section of the community to introduce them to the artist’s book genre.
